Activities

We strive to schedule our events on a variety of days and times and include activities for all age groups so that there is something for everyone. We welcome and need your input - contact the President if you have any ideas or problems with the calendars. The Calendar can be viewed on Meetup.com once you have become a member.

All members are welcome at every event. Here are some of the activities we do each month:

Park Days
Fresh air, sunshine, socializing and a whole group of kids for your child to play with. What more could you ask? If the weather is more than 90 degrees, we head to someone’s home, a splash pad or to the mall.

MOMS Night Out

Yay! Time out with the ladies!!! We go to movies, out to dinner, to cultural events, concerts, and to the spa. We’re always looking for new places to go. These events require that you R.S.V.P. to the MNO Coordinator and they are the only activities we don’t bring kids to, with the exception of nursing babies.

Field Trips

Field trips are a regular activity on our calendar.  They are a great way to expose our children to new learning experiences while exploring our town and surrounding communities in the company of other moms.  These outings occur both within and outside of Riverside.  Often we can obtain group rates and thus are able to pass the savings down to you.  Many members carpool to save on the cost of fuel as well.  Some of our most popular field trips have included SeaWorld, the L.A. County Fair, the Aquarium of the Pacific, the Pumpkin Patch, Festival of Lights, Festival of the Trees, The Sawdust Factory, Paint a Memory, the Magnolia Bird Farm, Beach Day, National/Regional Park visits, and trips to various Children’s Museums.  As a matter of fact, our Chapter was recognized by MOMS Club InternationalSM for “Outstanding Overall Chapter Field Trips” during the 2009-2010&2010-2011 club years.

Lunch Bunch                                                                                                                                          These activities take place at varying local restaurants, fast food establishments with play yards, at parks with sack lunches, or sometimes are arranged as potlucks at a member’s home.

Holiday Parties                                                                                                 Several times a year we get together to celebrate holidays. In the past, we have had a Halloween parade at a local seniors home, Easter Egg Hunt, and we throw a Holiday Potluck in December.

Playgroups
About once a month, each playgroup meets to hang out, talk and let the kids play. We take turns hosting at our homes or selecting another kid-friendly location to meet. Playgroups are divided by children’s ages and each playgroup has a coordinator.

New Member Social
Held twice a year, we have a potluck at a member’s home to welcome all the moms who have joined in the preceding six months. It’s a great way to meet everyone and has been a very popular event.

Business Meeting
Once a month we meet to discuss and vote on club business.

Mystery MOMS

Participating members are given the name of another MOM and little gifts and/or cards are secretly exchanged.  At the end of a 2 to 3 month period, each Mystery MOM reveals who they are and we begin again with another round of “mystery.”  The idea of this program is to have fun, enjoy the mystery, welcome new friends, and enjoy  being remembered by others.  This can be done very inexpensively with cards, a book or bookmark, candles, bubble bath, flowers, etc.  It is always entertaining to hear fun stories about drop-offs and creative ways members delivered their gifts.

Philanthropy Project
We are currently undertaking two philanthropic projects each year. Past projects have included a blanket drive to benefit The Mending Hearts Project, walking as a group in the Susan G Komen Race for the Cure, collecting non-perishable food for Harvest America collecting clothes and toys for needy families. Each project needs a committee to coordinate fun and effective fundraising and/or participation ideas.
